Assam Rifles troops recover 56 bags containing 3,920 kg of poppy seeds worth Rs 2.7 crore during an operation near H Munnom village in Moreh along Myanmar border.
Imphal: In yet another operation against illegal activities, troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (south) foiled cross-border smuggling in Manipur’s Moreh town in Tengnoupal district on Wednesday.
During an operation which was carried out near H Munnom village in Moreh, the troops recovered bags dumped in thick foliage along the India-Myanmar border.
On thorough checking of the area, the troops recovered a total of 56 bags containing 3,920 kg of poppy seeds worth Rs 2.7 crore, said an official.
The recovered items have been handed over to the Customs Preventive Force in Moreh for further investigation and legal action, the official added.
